ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC WORSHIP of GOD

 Fourth Sunday of Easter                   April 25, 2021

*Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 34:8,9,5,7,10)

   Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good!

            Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

  Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!

            Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

  The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.

            The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

*Hymn #151                    “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”

Affirmation of Holy Scripture (Psalm 119:162)

                I rejoice at your word like one who finds great spoil.

*Hymn                            “Abide with Me”                                                                             Lyte, Smith

   1. Abide with me; falls the eventide;  The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.

       When other helpers, fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, abide with me.

   2. Thou on my head, in early youth didst smile;

       And, though rebellious, and perverse meanwhile,

       Thou hast not left me, though I oft left Thee, On to the close Lord, abide with me.

   3. I need Thy presence, every passing hour. What but Thy grace, can foil the tempter's power?

       Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, abide with me.

   4. I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless Ills have no weight, tears lose their bitterness

      Where is thy sting death? Where grave thy victory? I triumph still, abide with me.

   5. Hold Thou Thy cross, before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies.

      Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;

      In life, in death, Lord, abide with me.

Confessing Our Need of Christ Together and Individually

   Holy God and Father of all who trust in You, we are Your redeemed people,

   Yet many times we refuse to live in the freedom that is ours in You.

   We are Your beloved people,

   Yet we spurn You by our desires for other loves.

   You call us to obedience,

   But often we are passively indifferent or stubbornly disobedient

   Therefore, we repent and ask Your forgiveness

   For the travesty of our ongoing rebellion against You.

   Cleanse us with the the Blood of Your Son, which was shed for us.

   Show us how to build our lives on the only sure foundation,

   Jesus Christ, our faithful Savior.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon (Psalm 34:17,18,19,21,22)

   When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.

            The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

   Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.

            Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

    The LORD redeems the life of his servants;

            None of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.
