Lighting of the Advent Candle - Love

Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 141:1-5)

   O LORD, I call upon you; hasten to me!

            Give ear to my voice when I call to you!

   Let my prayer be counted as incense before you,

            And the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice!

   Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

            Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds

   Let a righteous man strike me-it is a kindness;

            Let him rebuke me-it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it.

*Hymn #277                         “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”                                              Mendelssohn

*Affirmation of Faith - Apostles’ Creed

   I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;

   and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,

   born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried;

   He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven,

   and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

   from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead;

   I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church;

   the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins;

   the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Gospel Lesson                            Matthew 6:19-24 (ESV)

  19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in

   and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where

   thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 "The eye is

   the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad,

   your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 "No

   one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one

   and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.

Ingram Extra - Join us after service in the Fellowship Hall for refreshment. If you have interest or questions about the day’s sermon, join Pastor John at the couches for a short Q&A with others.
