Season of Christmastide                   January 03, 2021

*Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 145:9-13)

The LORD is good to all,

and His mercy is over all that He has made.

All Your works shall give thanks to You, O LORD, and all Your saints shall bless You!

They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom and tell of Your power,

to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds,

and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

The LORD is faithful in all His words and kind in all His works.

*Profession of Faith - Westminster Shorter Catechism Q? 34

   What is adoption?

Adoption is an act of God's free grace,

whereby we are received into the number,

and have a right to all the privileges, of the sons of God.

Affirmation of Holy Scripture - Psalm 119:145, 146

With our whole heart we cry; answer us, O LORD!

            We will keep Your statutes.

We call to You; save us,

that we may observe your testimonies.

*Hymn                                      “My Lord, I Did Not Choose You”                                 Condor, Smith

Chorus: My Lord I did not choose You For that could never be

My heart would still refuse You Had You not chosen me

You took the sin that stained me Cleansed me, made me new

Of old, You have ordained me That I should live in You

Unless Your grace had called me And taught my opening mind

The world would have enthralled me To heavenly glories blind

My heart knows none above You For Your rich grace I thirst

I know that if I love You You must have loved me first

Confessing Our Need of Christ Together and Individually

Most merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess

that we are prone to evil and lazy in doing good.

All our shortcomings and offenses are against You.

You alone know how often we have sinned

   by wandering from Your ways,

in wasting Your gifts and in forgetting Your love.

O Lord, have pity upon us. Teach us to hate our sins.

Forgive all our sins on account of Your dear Son, our Savior.

Send Your purifying grace into our hearts,

that we may live in Your light

and walk according to the commandments of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon (Ephesians 2:8,9)

For by grace you have been saved through faith.

   And this is not your own doing;

it is the gift of God,

   not a result of works,

so that no one may boast.

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
