“Why Do We Need Jesus, Part 2?”

Pastor John W. Uhl * January 24, 2021 *  Season after Epiphany

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,

5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved-

6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. - Ephesians 2:4-7

  1. Without Jesus, We Will Never Know the Mercy of God (Ephesians 2:4,5).

          a. He is merciful, indeed.

She conceived again and bore a daughter. And the LORD said to him, "Call her name No Mercy, for I will no more have mercy on the house of Israel, to forgive them at all. - Hosea 1:6

and I will sow her for myself in the land. And I will have mercy on No Mercy, and I will say to Not My People, 'You are my people'; and he shall say, 'You are my God.'"  - Hosea 2:23

          b. His mercy is aroused by His great love.

2.   Without Jesus, We Will Never Have Life from God (Ephesians 2:6).

NO UNION WITH CHRIST —> NO _______, NO ________, NO ________, NO ________

3.    Without Jesus, Our Chance to Know God Will End When We Die (Ephesians 2:7).

"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.  - Isaiah 55:6,7
