ORDER FOR THE PUBLIC WORSHIP of GOD

Trinity Season                  July 26, 2020

*Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 19:1-6)

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.

Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

*Hymn #63                            “All Creatures of Our God and King”

*Profession of Faith - Westminster Shorter Catechism Q? 7,8

What are the decrees of God?

The decrees of God are, his eternal purpose, according to the counsel of his will,

whereby, for his own glory, he hath foreordained whatsoever comes to pass.

How doth God execute his decrees?

God executes his decrees in the works of creation and providence.

*Hymn                                   “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”                                                 C. Wesley, Twit

1. Love divine, all loves excelling Joy of heaven, to earth come down

Fix in us thy humble dwelling  All Thy faithful mercies crown

Jesus, Thou art all compassion  Pure, unbounded love Thou art

Visit us with thy salvation  Enter every trembling, every trembling heart

2. Breathe, oh, breathe Thy loving Spirit  Into every troubled breast

Let us all in Thee inherit  Let us find the promised rest

Take away the love of sinning  Alpha and Omega be

End of faith, as its beginning  Set our hearts at liberty, at liberty

3. Come, Almighty, to deliver  Let us all Thy life receive

Suddenly return, and never  Nevermore Thy temples leave

Thee we would be always blessing  Serve Thee as Thy hosts above

Pray and praise Thee without ceasing  Glory in Thy perfect, in Thy perfect love

4. Finish, then, Thy new creation  Pure and spotless let us be

Let us see Thy great salvation  Perfectly restored in Thee

Changed from glory into glory  Till in heaven we take our place

Till we cast our crowns before Thee  Lost in wonder, love, in wonder, love and praise

OUTRO:  Wonder, love and praise (2X)

Sermon                                 “God’s Greatest Loves: He Loves His Creation”                  Pastor John W. Uhl

Confessing Our Need of Christ Together and Individually

O King of Glory, we confess that our praise of Your majesty has often been faint

and our behavior as citizens of Your Kingdom treasonous.

We have doubted Your perfect reign,

and we have surrendered to the enemy by our secret and known sins.

We have sought comfort in things that perish,

rather than find rest in Your salvation.

Transform our hearts with healing grace and

forgive the wrong we have done

and our failure to do what You have commanded.

Help us to humble ourselves and trust in Your power.

Melt our hard hearts with Your love

and make us eager to honor You with our lives.

By the Holy Spirit’s continuing discipline

and Your amazing grace and abundant patience,

may we be loyal and loving servants of the King.

It is through Jesus Christ we pray.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon   (1 John 4:9,10)

In this the love of God was made manifest among us,

that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

In this is love, not that we have loved God

but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
