Trinity Season                  June 14, 2020

*Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 102:25-27)

   Of old You laid the foundation of the earth,

            and the heavens are the work of Your hands.

   They will perish, but You will remain; they will all wear out like a garment.

            You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,

   But You are the same,

            and Your years have no end.

*Hymn #147                                     “How Great Thou Art”

*Profession of Faith - Children’s Catechism #150

   What will the new heaven and the new earth be like?

            A glorious and happy place, where the saved will be with Jesus forever.

Sermon                                             “Faith is Necessary But Not Easy”                   Pastor John Uhl

Confessing Our Need of Christ Together and Individually

   Eternal and merciful God, You have loved us with a love beyond our understanding,

   and You have set us on paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake.

   We confess we have strayed from Your way;

   we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed,

   through what we have done and what we have left undone.

   As we remember the lavish gift of Your grace

   manifested perfectly in the sacrifice of Your Son,

   we praise You and give You thanks that You forgive us yet again.

   Grant us now, we pray, the grace to die daily to sin

   and to rise daily to new life in Christ, who lives and reigns with You,

   and in whose strong name we pray.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon   (Romans 6:23)

   For the wages of sin is death,

   but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Bread & The Cup

*Hymn                                   “Abide with Me”                                                                              Lyte, Smith

1. Abide with me; falls the eventide;  The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.

    When other helpers, fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, abide with me.

2. Thou on my head, in early youth didst smile;

    And, though rebellious, and perverse meanwhile,

    Thou hast not left me, though I oft left Thee, On to the close Lord, abide with me.

3. I need Thy presence, every passing hour. What but Thy grace, can foil the tempter's power?

    Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, abide with me.

4. I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless Ills have no weight, tears lose their bitterness

    Where is thy sting death? Where grave thy victory? I triumph still, abide with me.

5. Hold Thou Thy cross, before my closing eyes;

    Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies.

    Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;

    In life, in death, Lord, abide with me.

*Benediction

*Congregational Response                    Three-fold Amen

New Guests - We are so glad to have the privilege of worshiping the Lord with you. Please fill out one of our “Guest Cards” found on the table in the Narthex. This will help us in responding to any of your questions or needs. You can place them in the offertory plate or hand it to our pastor.

The Lord’s Supper - We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday at Grace Covenant. All who trust in Jesus and Him alone for their salvation are invited to partake. Our custom is to distribute the elements processing forward by rows. After all are served, we then take the elements together. If you have a non-communing child, please bring them forward with you so Pastor John may pray for them. If you believe your child is ready to take Communion, please ask our Pastor about the process.

Cry Room - This special room is located in the back of the sanctuary should you have need. It is well appointed with the option to clearly hear the service.
