Trinity Season                   June 20, 2021

*Responsive Call to Worship    (Psalm 48:1,2,9-11)

   Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God!

  His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth,

  Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the Great King.

            We have thought on Your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of Your Temple.

  As Your Name, O God, so Your praise reaches to the ends of the earth.

            Your right hand is filled with righteousness.

            Let Mount Zion be glad because of Your judgments!

*Hymn #210                         “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”

*Profession of Faith - Westminster Shorter Catechism #82

   Is any man able perfectly to keep the commandments of God?

            No mere man, since the fall, is able in this life

            perfectly to keep the commandments of God,

            but doth daily break them in thought, word, and deed.

Epistolary Lesson               Ephesians 4:20-24                                                              (page 978)

Affirmation of Holy Scripture (Psalm 43:3)

                Send out Your light and Your truth; let them lead me;

            let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!

*Hymn                            “God Be Merciful to Me”

1. God, be merciful to me; On Thy grace I rest my plea

    Plenteous in compassion Thou, Blot out my transgressions now;

    Wash me, make me pure within; Cleanse, O cleanse me from my sin.

2. My transgressions I confess; Grief and guilt my soul oppress.

    I have sinned against Thy grace, And provoked Thee to Thy face.

    I confess Thy judgment just; Speechless, I Thy mercy trust.

3. I am evil, born in sin; Thou desirest truth within.

    Thou alone my Savior art, Teach Thy wisdom to my heart;

    Make me pure, Thy grace bestow, Wash me whiter than the snow.

4. Broken, humbled to the dust By Thy wrath and judgment just,

    Let my contrite heart rejoice, And in gladness hear Thy voice;

    From my sins O hide Thy face, Blot them out in boundless grace.

5. Gracious God, my heart renew, Make my spirit right and true.

    Cast me not away from Thee, Let Thy Spirit dwell in me;

    Thy salvation's joy impart, Steadfast make my willing heart.

6. Sinners then shall learn from me, And return, O God, to Thee

    Savior all my guilt remove, And my tongue shall sing Thy love

    Touch my silent lips, O Lord, And my mouth shall praise accord

Offertory & Prayer of Thanksgiving

Sermon                                             “Renewing the Spirit of Your Mind”                              Pastor John Uhl

*Hymn “Flourishing (Psalm 119)”                                                                                             S. McCraken

   1. Teach me, oh God to follow your decrees

   Give me understanding, your word, I wanna keep

   Direct me in the path, of your commands

   For there I find delight, my will is in your hands (Chorus)

   Turn my heart away from worthless things

   Preserve my life, according to your ways

   Take away disgrace

   You hold me in my place — flourishing

   2. Fulfill your promise to the ones you love

   Within your ways we walk, for your laws are good

   Temptation loses pow'r, my soul's revived

   In righteousness, oh God, preserve my life (Chorus)

Corporate & Individual Confession of Sins

  Almighty and most merciful Father,

   we are thankful that Your mercy is higher than the heavens,

   wider than our wandering, deeper than all our sin.

   Forgive our rebellious attitude toward Your purposes,

   our drifting from Your ways, our refusal to love and serve others,

   our neglect of Your life-giving Word, and our indifference to the treasures of heaven.

   Return us to the joy of Your salvation, so that, we may desire what is good,

   love what You love, and do what You command through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Assurance of the Lord’s Pardon (Psalm 42:5)

   Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?

            Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation.
